Section 8 Application Information

Central Missouri Community Action Section 8 Rental Assistance serves the following counties, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau and Osage. For your section 8 application to be completed and your name placed on the wait list you must return the following information for all members of your household. If information is missing it will be returned to you to complete and return before you can be added to the wait list.

• Birth Certificates
• Social Security Card or Social Security Verification
• Photo ID's for all members over age 18
• Income Verification -- Including but not limited to:
• Wages - Last 6 consecutive check stubs or a statement on letterhead from your employer stating amount of pay per hour and the average number of hours worked per week.
• Unemployment
• TANF Payments/Food Stamps
• Child Support Pay History for the past 12 months
• Social Security/SSI Benefits
• Pensions/Retirement
• Money received from odd jobs or from family
• Pell Grant/Student Loan Documentation

To apply for Section 8 the following forms need to be signed and completed:

• Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Application
• Authorization and Consent for Release of Information form (signed by every member in the household age 18 or older)
• Previous Housing Assistance Release Form

Completed forms may be mailed or taken to your local county CMCA office or the Central Office in Boone County. For directions, visit our locations page.

Please remember we cannot predict when your name will be reached on the wait list as the list does not move at a steady pace. The average time on the wait list is 12 to 18 months in the larger counties and 6 months in the smaller counties.
