Family Support
Families struggling with the crisis of poverty are often isolated from sources of support and help. Family Support is a case management model support service offered to families as they strive toward a long-range goal. During regular personal meetings, families and CMCA Family Advocates work together to identify strengths and opportunities that lead to personal success. |
Resource Distribution
When families are unable to meet their basic needs, a lack of access to needed resources in crisis or near crisis makes serious matters worse. In many cases needs such as heat, food, and housing must be dealt with before needs like education or employment. Through Resource Distribution CMCA Family Advocates are able to provide families with resources to help them meet these emergency needs in a variety of ways. |
Life Skills
How do I manage a budget? How do I become a better parent? What are the responsibilities associated with owning a home? These are some of the questions that all of us ask ourselves at one time or another. Through Life Skills Learning Opportunities, families with low income expand their knowledge, skills and expertise that can help them through difficult times. Utilizing the Building Strong Families curriculum, Life Skills classes are offered in a variety of topics including:
- Parenting/Family strengths
- Stress management
- Effective communication
- Employment/Job seeking
- Home ownership
