CMCA,
I hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving break. It is a great time to reflect on what is important to us. I am always pleased to think about my CMCA family as one of the things in my life for which I am grateful. There are only a few of you that I get to interact with on a regular basis but thanks to Darin Dollar nominations and supervisors who like to share good news, I get to hear about a lot of the good things that you do every day. For that, I deeply appreciate you.

The Friday before the week of Thanksgiving Julie Arment and Devin Bain presented information about trauma at the Manager's Meeting. One of the goals of our strategic plan is to be a trauma-informed organization. That is a bit of a buzzword these days but we want to take it to heart. Many of the people we serve, and many of us have experienced trauma in our lives and we believe that we can serve people better if we acknowledge this fact. The Leadership Team will plan out next steps for the process at our meeting on Tuesday.

Friendly reminder from Andy Prevo: It's finally going to get cold next week. Remember to disconnect all your garden hoses from the spigots and drain them before freezing temperatures hit. It is also a good idea to check furnace filters for the heating season. And for those with gas furnaces and/or water heaters, check your vent pipes to be sure they're not clogged with bird or wasp nests, etc. This can cause a buildup of carbon monoxide in your home. Stay warm and safe!

As you shop online this season, don't forget that it is super easy to give to CMCA at the same time you purchase things from Amazon. It doesn't cost anything extra and Amazon donates .5% of eligible purchases to whatever organization you choose to support. If you make purchases for CMCA through Amazon you should also go through Amazon Smile. Why not give back to ourselves! Just go to https://smile.amazon.com/ and you can choose to support Central Missouri Community Action.

I was excited to get the contract to renew our BRIDGE program today! This is an important program for our future and gives us the opportunity to continue our comprehensive services and to consider options to expand.

Have a great weekend!
